Cambridge Pubs & Restaurants

Many of the city's greatest pleasures belong to the evening hours. After dark the landscape transforms from that of punts, shops and sunny views to one of candlelit restaurants, traditional pubs and sophisticated clubs and bars.

Pubs

The Anchor (Burwell)

The Anchor at Burwell is a family-run welcoming pub with good freshly-prepared and home-cooked food. The pub also has an attractive location with gardens overlooking the Burwell Lode and is a favourite stop for boaters. A traditional, oak-beamed pub built in the 15th century, The Anchor is situated between Cambridge and Newmarket, though closer to the latter.

The Bath Ale House

It's rare to find a pub that understands the meaning of 'value' and doesn't confuse it with 'cheap'. The Ale House bobs along in a lovely, relaxed manner during the day, but really starts buzzing come the evenings. Their roast is less than a fiver and closer to heaven than several saints (especially St Hubert, the mollusc fondler). Open all week, with pool, darts, and a welcome warmer than a pair of Totes toasties.

The Black Bull - Balsham

The Black Bull is a traditional, 16th century thatched freehouse.

Family owned and run, the pub is set in a village on the outskirts of Cambridge with easy reach of Newmarket, A11, A14 and M11.

The pub boasts authentic beamed bars, with open fire, restaurant and newly built letting accommodation.

Restaurants

Bella Italia

The bar and restaurant , open daily, serve a wide range of pasta and pizza dishes and have special menu options of dietary needs.
